Bike-riding and Yo-yo Flinging.

Konnichiwa!  I suppose I should start with the bike-riding badge.  When I was very young, about the age to learn how to ride a bike without training wheels, I avoided learning to, due to fear of…well…falling.  Then one day, one of my friends told me that she had had a dream I could ride it, and while this seems a strange thing to motivate me, it somehow did.  So I began to learn.

On to my yo-yo story.  I don’t have an amazingly interesting story about how I learned, I just remember not being very good at it at first.  I can’t do any fancy tricks, but I enjoy simply making it bob up and down.  Once, when I was in middle school, a man came with yo-yo’s and showed us different tricks with them.  It was fairly interesting, but nothing I’d be willing to practice for long periods of time to learn, unless I was really bored.

Any of you have stories about yo-yoing or bike-riding?  Share them in the comment section below.  ^_^

Birthday Party Badge

Image

I have had  several of these, and have gone to quite a few as well 😉  I’ve had two surprise birthday parties, which I find extremely fun.  Once, when I was fairly young, I was going to go to disney a few days after my birthday, so my mom said I could have a friend over, but nothing special.  After dinner, they asked us if we wanted to go play outside.  On our way out, I realized I had left something in the kitchen.  So I came back to find my sister and mother busy decorating the room with streamers.  My sister quickly pushed me out, and the entire time I was outside I was simply waiting to go back inside to my surprise party.  For my cake, I believe they made key lime bars, which I like much more than traditional birthday cake.

Have you ever had a surprise birthday party?  If so, write about it in the comments.

Vocalist Badge!

Konnichiwa!  Now, I am guessing I do not really have to explain how I have earned this badge.  Unless, of course, you haven’t been paying attention to my posts at all lately.  However, I can go a bit more into depth on this topic than I already have.

I remember deciding I wanted to be a famous singer when I was in about 1st grade.  Each year, for 1st-3rd grade, I had a specific objective relating to singing to complete.  I cannot remember what the other two were, but I do believe 3rd grade’s was to learn how to hold notes for a long time.  I got into choir for 4th and 5th graders both of my last years in elementary.  I hated it.  We were forced to do it, and I found it terribly boring.  Still, with the dream to become a singer, I went into choir all my years of middle school, and vocal ensemble on top of that, a select group of singers from the choir who did more complicated songs.  Occasionally, I genuinely liked some of the songs, however, I still found choir practice terribly boring.  I don’t know when, but somewhere in middle school my dreams of being a famous singer faded, as I realized while I was somewhat talented, it was a very competitive field and I didn’t really stand a chance.  However, my dream of going into high-school choir did not.  I had been looking up to them most of my time in choir, as they did fairly interesting songs.  One of my favorites has always been their rendition of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” which I got to do my first year when I joined the choir.  The practices are just as boring in IHL as they always were in middle-school, but I endure them for the performances.  Performances I am currently not attending, but I am still glad for the practice my voice gets.  A lot of things have changed since I first dreamed of being a singer, such as what I aspire to be.  I have been thinking lately that I may go into linguistics to become a translator.  My ultimate dream at this point is to write a book that turns into a movie, a good movie, not a movie that was ‘based’ of off my book, but is nothing like the actual book.  Something that people get excited about.  Which reminds me…

No writing challenge today, just a question.  Do your interests clearly show in your characters?  Often my characters are artistic because I admire that sort of thing.  What is it that they mirror from you most?  Comment below.

Keyboard Badge

Image

Just a quick post today-about the keyboard badge.  I have a keyboard, but not just any keyboard, it’s a weighted keyboard.  Which means that the keys feel heavy, like on a real piano.  I also have the option to change the sound from piano to a few different instruments, my favorites being the strings and the choir.  I got this as a present for my birthday from my parents, and I enjoy it a good deal, although lately I haven’t been using it as much as 1) I’m super busy and 2) piano practice is possibly one of the most boring things on the face of the planet.

Have any of you played a keyboard?  Comment below.  Matanae!

The Going to Everywhere and an Exchange Student

Konnichiwa!  If you have not yet realized this, or I have not yet told you, I love Japanese culture.  Well, currently, there is a student from Japan in my house.  0_0

She is super awesome, though for privacy purposes, I will not use her real name.  In this blog post I will call her ‘Midori’.  I have learned a lot from her already, as I am trying to learn Japanese, and I hope she has learned a lot from me.  Also, in those past few days, we have been going everywhere.  To American restaurants, American shopping malls, American museums and cities.  Not that I am complaining-it is exorbitantly fun for me as well as her, however, it does take a lot out of you.  Happily, today is a Saturday, which means I got to sleep in.  I went to bed at 12 and slept till 9  but didn’t get out of bed till 10 xD

I am going to need energy for today.  Today we are going to the Philadelphia Art Museum, and then possibly shopping around in Phile afterwards.  Of course, Midori’s interest comes first, in this as, as this is her first visit to America.  So if she wants, we’ll stay at the art museum till closing time 😉

In other news: I haven’t posted a new badge in a while, have I?  Well, here is one of the most recent ones, that I have already earned 😉Image~I have played with my mother a few times, though I usually lose.

Shoot, I just lost the game.
